In this photo of the beautiful Donna Reed, we see her rocking a bob hairstyle. Today this hairstyle is still very popular and gives women freedom signifying, since the supposed origin of the hairstyle, a 'rebellion against female expectations' (E-online). This hairstyle stood out so powerfully against the normally expected long locks, that most beauty parlors refused to even cut it in the beginning due to its controversy. As time progressed this haircut became more common, however, it still remains as a symbol of difference and woman empowerment through standing out against the cultural norm.
