He proposed daily

Donna Reed and Col. Grover Asmus

Col. Grover Woodrow Asmus (January 2, 1926 - October 11, 2003).

Grover W. Asmus, the husband of Denison, Iowa, native Donna Reed from 1974 until her passing in 1986, served in the U.S. Army until 1972, reaching the rank of colonel. His numerous assignments included serving as a senior aide to General of the Army Omar N. Bradley. In 1987, Asmus became the founding president of The Donna Reed Foundation for the Performing Arts.

Jay Fultz, the author of In Search of Donna Reed, writes that during their three-year courtship, Grover proposed to Donna on a daily basis. She finally answered one evening at dinner, "You've worn me down. Yes. I still haven't found your dark side, but I think I can live with it when it does pop up."
