Aldo Ray (September 25, 1926 - March 27, 1991).
Aldo Ray (born Aldo Da Re) was an American actor in film and television.
He began his film career in1950 when Columbia Studios sent a unit to San Francisco to look for athletes to appear in the film Saturday's Hero (1951). It starred Donna Reed and John Derek.
Aldo's brother saw an item in the San Francisco Chronicle about the auditions and asked him to drive him there. Director David Miller was more interested in Ray than his brother because of his gruff, raspy voice, and his comfort in talking to the camera due to his prior political experience. Aldo ended up with a part in the movie.
