Marjorie Main (February 24, 1890 – April 10, 1975).
Marjorie Main was an American character actress and singer during the Classical Hollywood period. Born Mary Tomlinson, she became well-known as a contract player for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in the 1940s and 1950s, particularly for her role as Ma Kettle in the ten Ma and Pa Kettle films.
She appeared alongside Donna Reed in the movies "Gentle Annie" (1944) and "The Bugle Sounds" (1941). A review in Variety noted that "The Bugle Sounds" is "packed with patriotic fervor, thrills, and comedy," further praising the excellent performances by the stars and the balance of the cast.
